Comprehensive Flamenco Studies
Format: Group – 90 min every week, throughout the year – Online
For: Guitarists, singers, dancers, palmera/os, percussionists, musicians aficionada/os, and anyone whith a genuine and deep interest in flamenco.
Flamenco is a rich and complex music revolving around several key elements: traditional structures, a traditional repertoire, an elaborate language, and, last but not least, musical codes. We can spend years learning choreographies, steps, letras, or falsetas by heart and still miss the fundamentals of how it REALLY works.
COMPREHENSIVE FLAMENCO STUDIES is an alternative yet complementary approach to learning flamenco. It is a comprehensive approach to improve your practice through a sound understanding of the art of flamenco as a whole.
In addition to any regular flamenco classes you may be taking — whether it be dance, singing, guitar, percussion, or palmas — this course will provide you with the tools that you need to perform better as an artist, and to appreciate flamenco more fully as a spectator.
What do we do during the class?
- Listen, watch, and discuss audio and video excerpts of cante, baile, and toque. Analyze, comment, compare, discuss, investigate, understand what we have experienced, and put each aspect in relation to the other within a holistic perspective.
- Learn the structure and mechanism of each musical element with clear analysis tools, from the largest elements — a complete baile, a series of letras, or a falseta — to the smallest details — a specific step, a specific line of a letra, or a remate.
- Study the different palos and styles, learning their characteristics, common points, differences, and specificities.
- Practice rhythm and palmas through practical exercises that build up skill.
- Clarify the specific flamenco vocabulary.
- Discover important artists from all eras and disciplines of flamenco (singers, dancers guitar players etc.)
- Develop your autonomy through efficient practice strategies.
- Review your own musical/choreographic material and suggest improvements.
- Understand and experiment with improvisation in the flamenco context.
- Share our experiences and knowledge.
- Answer any and all questions you may have.
Price and practical details:
- For practical reasons, weekly group classes are purchased in packages of 4 classes, paid at the beginning of each cycle, but be aware that this is a long-term program and weekly classes run throughout the year.
- Cost is: 100 USD/person, for 4 x 90 minutes group sessions (25 USD/session).
- Schedules depend on the group. Contact me for more information.
- New groups can be opened at any time of the year when a minimum of 5 people is reached. There is a 10 person maximum per group.
- Prerequisite: a genuine love for and deep interest in flamenco!

Flamenco Coaching
Format: Individual (60min) Group (90min) – Online
For: You and/or your group: dancers, guitarists, singers, palmero/as, percussionists.
Have you ever thought: “If only I could get some tailor-made help to guide me in flamenco?”
This is exactly what I offer you here. In personalized individual or groups sessions I can design a coaching program according to your needs. This will help you to better integrate yourself into an interactive flamenco context, whether you dance, sing, or play guitar or palmas. The opportunity to understand, apply and practice all the codes of traditional flamenco with other performers is the key to success!
I provide personalized exercises according to your needs and goals. I will answer your questions, and increase your confidence by strengthening your understanding of the different aspects of flamenco: global structures, internal structural elements, codes, compás, styles, palos, improvisation, setting up a baile, understanding the cante, deciphering the toque, the interactions between cante, baile and toque, etc.
What do we do during the class?
I will attend your rehearsals or practice sessions, and guide you to the next step. I will listen to your recordings and give you creative feedback. I will help you organize and optimize your flamenco material — dance steps, letras, falsetas, remates, or escobillas, so you can use what you already know with greater ease and expressiveness. Rhythm, Compás & Palmas
Format: Individual (60min) Group (90min) – Online
For: Dancers, guitarists, singers, palmero/as, percussionists, and musicians who want to unravel the mysteries of flamenco rhythm!
FlamencoMAPS offers original and ingenious educational tools and exercises to help you understand, visualize and feel the compás. It is fundamental to understand the rhythm in addition to experiencing the physical and hearing sensation. You will learn to break it down, and master how to count it. Because thinking and putting words or numbers to the rhythm helps to understand its structure. Later on, we can free ourselves from thinking about structure, and give free rein to our artistic expression while always remaining — a compás!
All flamencos — dancers, singers, singers, guitarists, percussionists, instrumentalists — have their own way of expressing the same compás, but they must find a common breath together. For that they have to understand the different compases, and must know how to play palmas correctly.
What do we do during the class?
- Understand the general concepts of rhythm, and the compás in flamenco.
- Study and practice the different compases in all the palos.
- Practice again.
- Master the rhytmical codes — llamadas, remates, cierres.
- Work on the sound quality of the palmas and build rhythmic accuracy.
- Practice more. 😉

Guitar – Toque
Format: Individual (60min) Group (90min) – Online
For: Guitarists who know that being a flamenco guitarist is much more than just playing guitar!
Depending on what you are looking for as a flamenco guitarist, we can orient guitar lessons in different ways:
- JUST GUITAR: Everything that you need in order to play flamenco guitar. Different techniques, sound, rhythm, harmony, palos (styles) studies, falsetas, variations, recursos, repertoire, composition, arrangements… in all different palos. The freedom and depth of the flamenco guitar.
- GUITAR PARA BAILE: Guitar lessons specifically aimed at accompanying the flamenco baile. A flamenco guitarist must understand the baile and its structures, and know how to accompany it. General concepts, structures in all different palos. Specificities, mechanics, codes, interactions. The essential freedom of the tablao!
- GUITAR PARA CANTE: Guitar lessons specifically geared towards accompanying the flamenco cante. The flamenco guitar only really makes sense if it is imprinted with cante. General concepts, structures in all different palos. Specificities, mechanics, codes, interactions. The intimacy and magic of the cante / guitarra dialogue.
